Manchester City strengthened their pursuit of Premier League leaders Arsenal with a commanding 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday. The win moves City within two points of the top of the table.
City went ahead in the 41st minute when Erling Haaland met a Matheus Nunes cross with a powerful header to give City the lead.
In the 69th minute, Phil Foden doubled the lead. He played a precise shot from the edge of the box that left Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson with no chance. City continued to dominate possession and manage the tempo, keeping Palace largely restricted to counterattacking forays.
Haaland sealed the victory late with a penalty in the 89th minute. The penalty was a result of Henderson fouling Savinho in the box.
The win marks City’s fourth consecutive league victory, a run that has kept them firmly in the title race despite Arsenal’s strong start this season.
For Palace, the defeat leaves them fifth on the table with 26 points. Manchester City remain second on the table with 34 points, trailing behind Arsenal with just 2 points.
