Villa responded in the 64th minute as Ross Barkley struck from the middle of the box to make it 1–1.
The goal stood after a lengthy VAR review to determine whether the ball had deflected off the potentially offside Amadou Onana.
Fernandes Creates Record Assist
United regained the lead in the 71st minute when Fernandes threaded a precise through ball to Matheus Cunha, who finished from the left side of the box.
The assist was Fernandes’ 16th of the league season, a club record and also his 100th assist for United across all competitions.
Šeško Seals the Win
Substitute Benjamin Šeško sealed the victory ten minutes later with a powerful strike from the centre of the area.
The result lifted Manchester United to 54 points from 30 games, three ahead of fourth-placed Aston Villa.
