Manchester United were held to a dramatic 4-4 draw by Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Monday.
Amad Diallo opened the scoring with a close-range header in the 13th minute. However, the visitors found the back of the net through Antoine Semenyo in the 40th minute to level the score at 1-1.
Casemiro restored the lead for United with a headed goal just before half-time. He capitalized on a defensive error by Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic. Just seconds after the half-time break, Evanilson netted the equalizer for Bournemouth, making it 2-2.
Bournemouth then took the lead through Marcus Tavernier’s low free kick early in the 52nd minute. United responded again in the 77th minute when Bruno Fernandes curled in a free kick to level the scores at 3-3.
In the 79th minute, Benjamin Sesko passed the ball in from the left wing, and Matheus Cunha finished it, making the score 4-3.
Five minutes later, teenage substitute Eli Junior Kroupi struck to secure a point for Bournemouth. United goalkeeper Senne Lammens even made a key stoppage-time save to preserve the draw.
United manager Ruben Amorim post-match said, “It’s really disappointing.” “We are really disappointed. Crazy game. It might look like we lost the two points in the second half, but I think we lost them in the first half.
“We dominated and created so many chances. We had to go to halftime with a different result. In the end, we deserved more.”
The draw leaves Manchester United sixth in the Premier League standings on 26 points. Meanwhile, Bournemouth sit 13th on 21 points.
Manchester United’s next Premier League game is against Aston Villa on Sunday, 21 December. Bournemouth will face Burnley on Saturday, 20 December.
