Singer and producer CKay has reached a historic global milestone on Spotify. His breakout hit, Love Nwantiti, has officially surpassed one billion streams worldwide. The achievement makes it the first Nigerian solo song to reach the milestone.
Born Chukwuka Kelvin Anisiobi, CKay wrote, performed, and co-produced the record himself. The song was first released in 2019 on his EP, CKay The First.
The track went viral in 2021 through TikTok trends and international remix releases. Successful remixes featured Nigerian singer Joeboy and Ghanaian star Kuami Eugene. The viral success pushed CKay onto major global streaming and music charts.
Love Nwantiti has earned multiple platinum certifications across several international markets. The song remains one of the biggest African records in global digital music history.
Reacting to the milestone on his X account, CKay expressed deep gratitude to God and fans. “This is the first Nigerian solo song to cross one billion streams,” he wrote.
Since the global success of Love Nwantiti, CKay has continued to thrive musically. He released his debut studio album, Sad Romance, which includes hits like Emiliana and Watawi. Other notable singles include Oscillate, Forever, and Mmadu, which performed well internationally.
CKay has toured extensively across Africa, Europe, and North America and performed at major festivals. His live shows often feature both Love Nwantiti and tracks from Sad Romance, delighting fans. He has hinted at a new project, though an official release date is yet to be announced.
