Liverpool secured automatic qualification for the Champions League round of 16 with a ruthless 6-0 victory over Qarabag at Anfield on Wednesday.
Mohamed Salah ended his goal drought by scoring for the first time since November 1, netting Liverpool’s third goal of the night.
First-Half Dominance
Liverpool took early control when Alexis Mac Allister headed in from a corner after 15 minutes. Goal-line technology confirmed the ball had crossed the line despite goalkeeper Mateusz Kochalski’s efforts.
Florian Wirtz doubled the lead six minutes later with a composed low finish.
Second-Half Rout
Salah added his goal shortly after the interval, curling a free-kick into the top corner after a touch from Dominic Szoboszlai.
Qarabag collapsed under sustained pressure as Hugo Ekitike scored in the 57th minute. Mac Allister then capitalised on a defensive error to tap in his second goal four minutes later.
Substitute Federico Chiesa completed the rout in the 90th minute with a simple finish from Virgil van Dijk’s pass.
The only setback for Liverpool was an early muscle injury to Jeremie Frimpong, who was forced off inside the opening two minutes.
