Leeds United defeated Norwich City 3-0 at Elland Road on Sunday, advancing to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time in more than two decades.
Longstaff Gives Leeds Early Control
Leeds took control midway through the first half when Sean Longstaff expertly controlled a cross from Gabriel Gudmundsson before firing a superb volley into the net.
Gudmundsson Doubles the Lead
Gudmundsson then doubled the lead just before the break, poking home from close range after Dan James delivered a dangerous cross that Norwich failed to clear.
Norwich struggled to threaten before halftime, managing their first attempt only when Ali Al-Hamadi dragged a low shot wide.
Norwich Improve After the Break
The visitors improved after the restart, forcing Lucas Perri into a save from Kenny McLean.
Norwich came closest through Anis Ben Slimane, whose effort struck the outside of the post after a clever pass from substitute Errol Mundle-Smith.
Piroe Seals Victory for Leeds
Norwich goalkeeper Vladan Kovačević made several saves after replacing the injured Daniel Grimshaw at halftime.
However, he could not prevent Leeds from adding a third goal when Joel Piroe curled in a left-footed finish five minutes from time.
Farke Watches From the Stands
Leeds manager Daniel Farke was serving a one-match touchline ban against his former club. He nevertheless witnessed a much-improved performance from a rotated side after a disappointing midweek league defeat to Sunderland AFC.
Upcoming Fixtures
15th-placed Leeds next face Crystal Palace on March 15.
Meanwhile, Norwich return to EFL Championship action at home to Sheffield United on March 11.
