Real Madrid edged Juventus 1-0 at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday, thanks to a strike from Jude Bellingham.
Bellingham fired home in the 58th minute off a rebound from Vinícius Júnior’s shot. The home side dominated with 26 attempts to Juventus’ 11.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois said: “A very tough, hard-fought match. Chances at both ends. An important win against another big team. Nine out of nine. Now we’re off to Anfield.”
Juve goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio made several fine saves, denying efforts from both Kylian Mbappé and Brahim Díaz. After the match, Di Gregorio said: “Defeats always make you angry, but the attitude we saw tonight was fantastic” With the win, Real Madrid sit top of their group with nine points from three games, while Juventus are enduring a worrying slide with just two points and no victories so far.
