Jada Pinkett Smith has filed a motion to dismiss a $3 million lawsuit brought by Bilaal Salaam, an alleged close friend and former associate of her husband, Will Smith.
The lawsuit, filed in late 2025, accuses Pinkett Smith of intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Allegations from the 2021 Birthday Celebration
Salaam claims that during Will Smith’s birthday celebration in September 2021, Pinkett Smith became verbally aggressive and threatened that he would “end up missing or catch a bullet” if he continued sharing personal information about her family.
He further alleges that she pressured him to sign a non-disclosure agreement and later conducted a campaign that damaged his reputation, career, and health.
Pinkett Smith Denies Claims
Pinkett Smith has denied the allegations, describing them as “false” and “uncorroborated.” She also characterised the lawsuit as part of a “public campaign of harassment” aimed at exploiting her family.
In her motion, she asks the court to dismiss the case entirely and require Salaam to cover her legal fees.
Court To Decide Next Steps
The court will now review Pinkett Smith’s filing and determine whether the case proceeds to trial or is dismissed.
