J. Cole has clarified his plans following the release of his seventh studio album, The Fall-Off, stating that he has no intention of retiring and will continue creating music on his own terms.
No Plans to Retire
The Grammy-winning artiste explained that while “The Fall-Off” could serve as a final chapter, he will not force an end to his career if inspiration strikes.
“If that’s my last album, I’m cool. If I get inspired in a year, two years, five years, ten years to do another album, I’m not going to fight the feeling,” Cole said.
He added that a recent resurgence in creativity has reignited his passion:
“Because of what happened two years ago, I’m very inspired right now, because I fell back in love with this sh*t.”
Creative Freedom Over Schedule
Cole indicated that he is not planning an immediate follow-up album. Instead, he intends to let his creative process guide future projects rather than follow a traditional release schedule.
This approach allows him to work freely without the constraints of an album cycle, prioritising inspiration over deadlines.
Future Projects Still in Development
He also confirmed that his previously announced project, It’s A Boy, remains in development.
Cole suggested that his future work could include production, collaborations, or other musical ventures, depending on where his creativity leads.
An Ongoing Musical Journey
In summary, J. Cole is stepping back from a structured album schedule but has made it clear that his music career is ongoing.
His creative instincts will determine the timing and direction of future releases, ensuring that new music will continue to emerge whenever inspiration strikes.
