Gervonta Davis Released After Miami Arrest

WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis was released from Miami-Dade County Jail on Thursday after being arrested by U.S. marshals the previous night.

The 31-year-old boxer exited the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after bonding out, with court records showing bail set at $16,000.

Charges and Arrest Details

Authorities said Davis was arrested “without incident” following a warrant issued by Miami Gardens police. He faces charges of attempted kidnapping, false imprisonment, and battery linked to an alleged October 2025 incident at Tootsies Cabaret.

The alleged victim claims Davis grabbed her by the hair and throat and dragged her outside the club, leaving her “battered and bruised”, according to police filings.

Legal Teams Trade Accusations

In bond court, Davis’s attorney strongly denied the allegations, claiming there was an attempt to extort money from the boxer.

“We have emails, text messages, and photographs of everything,” the lawyer said.

The victim’s legal team rejected the claims, stating their client reported the incident before any civil lawsuit was filed and made no financial demands.

Career Impact and Ongoing Legal Issues

This marks the fourth time Davis has been arrested on a battery charge. The case further clouds the future of the undefeated boxer, recently named “champion in recess”.

Davis has not fought since a controversial majority draw in March against Lamont Roach Jr., with a planned rematch later in 2025 collapsing due to his ongoing legal troubles.
