Police in Miami have issued an arrest warrant for WBA lightweight boxing champion Gervonta Davis over an alleged domestic violence incident from October.
The 31-year-old faces charges including battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping.
Allegations Detailed by Police
Authorities allege that Davis restrained the victim using force and attempted to remove her against her will. Police reports claim he grabbed the woman by her hair and throat during the incident.
The pair reportedly had an intimate relationship lasting five months.
Surveillance Footage and Investigation
Police say surveillance video footage supports key elements of the victim’s account. Investigators are currently working with the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force to execute the arrest warrant.
Civil Lawsuit Filed
The alleged victim, Courtney Rossel, has also filed a civil lawsuit seeking more than $50,000 in damages. The suit includes claims of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and emotional distress.
Previous Legal Issues
Davis has faced previous legal troubles, including domestic violence arrests and a 44-day jail sentence in 2023 for violating house arrest conditions related to a hit-and-run case.
