Union Saint‑Gilloise ended Galatasaray’s three-match winning streak in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
The decisive moment came in the 57th minute when Union striker Promise David converted a close-range finish. This was as a result of a clever reverse pass from Raul Florucz that set up midfielder Adem Zorgane.
Galatasaray controlled possession for most of the match and created several chances. Their midfielder Gabriel Sara struck the post in the first half.
Despite spending most of the match on the attack, the home side lacked their usual firepower. Their two top scorers in the competition, Victor Osimhen and Yunus Akgün, were both sidelined with injuries, limiting Galatasaray’s attacking threat.
Galatasaray defender Arda Ünyay was shown a second yellow card and sent off late in the match, forcing the hosts to finish the game with 10 men.
The defeat is Galatasaray’s first home loss in European competition since August 2024. The result leaves them on nine points in the group standings. Union’s victory lifts them to six points.
