The European playoff draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup took place on Thursday at FIFA headquarters in Zurich. This sets four distinct paths through 16 teams vying for the remaining European qualification spots for the tournament.
In Path A, four-time champions Italy will face Northern Ireland, while Wales take on Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Path B matches are Ukraine versus Sweden and Poland face against Albania.
Path C will feature Turkey against Romania and Slovakia will be facing Kosovo.
Path D pairs Denmark national football team with North Macedonia national football team, and Czech Republic goes against theRepublic of Ireland. Each path will include a one-match semi-final followed by a final in March 2026. The winners of each path will claim one of Europe’s four remaining spots at the expanded 48-team World Cup in North America.
