Erling Haaland struck twice as Manchester City defeated AFC Bournemouth 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. The win moves City to second place in the Premier League.

The Norwegian opened the scoring in the 17th minute after a powerful run and clinical finish. He then added a second in the 33rd minute following Bournemouth’s equaliser. He now leads the league scoring chart with 13 goals in 10 games.

Bournemouth had pulled level through Tyler Adams’ 25th-minute strike, but Haaland restored the lead before the break. Later, Nico O’Reilly sealed the victory for City with a goal in the 60th minute.

The win lifts Manchester City to 19 points, six behind league leaders Arsenal. Bournemouth drop to fourth, level with champions Liverpool on 18 points, but with an inferior goal difference.

“I didn’t score last game (a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa),” Haaland told Sky Sports. “I try to help the team to win. That is my goal and even by scoring or helping in winning duels it doesn’t matter. I want to help the team become better, that is my job.”
