The publishing company representing Eminem, Eight Mile Style, has escalated its legal action against Meta Platforms. Meta, which is the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is sued over allegations of extensive copyright infringement. The initial lawsuit, filed in May 2025, accused Meta of unauthorized use of 243 Eminem compositions in millions of user-generated videos across its platforms.
Eight Mile Style alleges that Meta deliberately incorporated the catalogue into its music libraries without securing proper licensing. The publisher claims Meta accessed the music through a 2020 agreement with the digital rights firm Audiam, which it asserts did not have the authority to license the rapper’s works.
Attorney Richard Busch stated, “Meta objectively knew it did not have a license to exploit the Eight Mile Compositions and was aware that it was providing infringing material on a massive scale.”
The filing describes Meta’s actions as a “years-long and ongoing infringement” by “a trillion-dollar company exploiting the creative efforts of musical artistes.” Eight Mile Style is seeking significant monetary damages and a permanent injunction to prevent future unauthorized use of Eminem’s music on Meta’s platforms.
Meta has not issued a public statement regarding the latest court filing.
