Egypt wrapped up their Group B campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations unbeaten after a 0–0 draw with Angola, finishing top of the group with seven points.
Match Highlight
Already assured of qualification, Egypt made wholesale changes as coach Hossam Hassan rotated his entire starting XI, resting key players including Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush. The Pharaohs did enough to secure the point needed to seal first place.
Angola created better chances and pushed for a win that could have boosted their qualification hopes. Chico Banza went close before halftime, while M’Bala Nzola and Manuel Benson both missed opportunities in the second half.
Egypt goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir made an important save just before the break to preserve the stalemate. Substitute Ahmed Zizo had Egypt’s best opening after the restart but could not convert.
The draw confirmed Egypt as Group B winners ahead of South Africa. Angola finished third on two points and exited the tournament.
Egypt remain in Agadir for their round-of-16 clash next Monday against one of the best third-placed teams from other groups.
