Grammy-winning gospel singer and pastor Donnie McClurkin has been sued for sexual abuse by a former associate. Giuseppe Corletto alleges the abuse occurred during a long-term spiritual and professional relationship.
Details of the Allegations
The filing states that Corletto first met McClurkin in 2003 at a church in Long Island. He says he approached McClurkin after reading his book discussing faith and sexuality. The relationship later developed into mentorship and employment. The lawsuit alleges the abuse occurred during private counselling sessions and work-related interactions.
According to the complaint, the alleged incidents took place across multiple locations. These included church premises and hotels during work-related travel over several years. The lawsuit claims the conduct continued while Corletto worked as McClurkin’s personal assistant.
Court documents also reference an email included in the filing. Corletto alleges the message, sent in 2013, suggested acknowledgement of wrongdoing.
McClurkin Responds to Allegations
Donnie McClurkin has denied all allegations contained in the lawsuit. His attorney, Gregory S. Lisi, described the claims as false.
“These allegations are categorically untrue,” Lisi said.
“Mr McClurkin did not engage in sexual abuse, assault, or sexual coercion.”
The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and requests a jury trial.
