Gospel singer and pastor Donnie McClurkin has addressed a civil lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault and coercion. The plaintiff is Giuseppe Corletto, a former assistant and church member. The lawsuit centres on alleged misconduct linked to a pastoral and working relationship.
McClurkin’s Public Statement
In a video shared online, McClurkin rejects the claims. He describes the allegations as contrived and untrue. He also speaks on the wider issue of abuse, stating,
“Sexual violence, in any form, is a real and painful reality for many and not to be used frivolously.”
McClurkin’s Legal Position
He outlines his legal position in the same message.
“I am proactively cooperating fully with the appropriate processes and will vigorously defend to the fullest against this defamatory and baseless lawsuit.” He said that, “When the truth is fully known, I will be vindicated.”
Claims Made In The Lawsuit
The lawsuit alleges sexual assault and coercion during a working and pastoral relationship.
McClurkin’s legal representative has denied all wrongdoing and maintains that the claims are false.
