Djokovic Reaches 100 Australian Open Wins

Novak Djokovic reached a historic milestone at Melbourne Park after recording his 100th career victory at the Australian Open with a dominant straight-sets win over Spain’s Pedro Martinez.

Serving Masterclass

The 38-year-old was near flawless on serve in a 6–3, 6–2, 6–2 victory, dropping just five points in his service games. Djokovic won 93 percent of points on his first serve and landed 77 percent of his deliveries, controlling the match from start to finish.

Expert Praise

Former doubles world number one Mark Woodforde described Djokovic’s serving display as “supreme” and “exceptional”. Djokovic agreed, saying,

“Tonight’s performance was great, I can’t complain about anything. I served very well.”

Historic Milestone

The win makes Djokovic a centurion at the Australian Open, adding to his 102 victories at Wimbledon and 101 at Roland Garros. During his on-court interview, highlights from his 2005 Melbourne debut were shown, though the Serbian played down the moment.

“I won’t get caught up in it until I’ve put the racquet aside,” he said.

What’s Next

Djokovic will face Italian qualifier Francesco Maestrelli in the second round. He admitted his growing list of records continues to drive him forward, adding,

“It’s a nice feeling to be a centurion. History-making is great motivation.”
