Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially started serving his federal prison sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey.
According to law enforcement sources, Diddy was moved early Thursday morning and checked into the low-security prison, where he will serve roughly two and a half years. This follows Judge Arun Subramanian’s 50-month sentence earlier this year, which Diddy requested to serve at Fort Dix.
His legal team had described Fort Dix as a more suitable place for personal reformation and safe reintegration compared to other Prisons.
Diddy had been held without bail at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre since September 2024, awaiting trial. His lawyer, Mark Geragos, said in a recent podcast that the music mogul remains at risk behind bars, warning that fame attracts unwanted attention even in low-security environments.
Reports from his sentencing hearing revealed that Diddy once faced a life-threatening moment when an inmate allegedly held a knife to his neck while he slept.
The Bureau of Prisons projects his release date as 8 May 2028, though this could change depending on behaviour and prison conditions.
