Coco Jones opened Super Bowl LX on Sunday, 8 February 2026, with a performance of Lift Every Voice and Sing. The Grammy-winning singer was the first artiste to take the field during the pregame ceremony, delivering the hymn widely known as the Black National Anthem.

Jones wore a white floor-length gown adorned with red, black, and green sequins, reflecting the colours of the Pan-African flag. She was accompanied by an eight-piece orchestral ensemble, which performed a traditional arrangement of the song.
Her rendition maintained vocal clarity and precision, qualities recognised when she won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance in 2024.

Lift Every Voice and Sing was written as a poem in 1900 by James Weldon Johnson, with music composed by his brother John Rosamond Johnson. The hymn celebrates the struggle, resilience, and achievements of Black Americans.
