Chelsea will have Cole Palmer available for Sunday’s Premier League showdown against Arsenal, manager Enzo Maresca announced on Friday.
Palmer has not featured since September after first suffering a groin injury, followed by a fractured toe in a domestic accident. But after resuming training this week; wearing a special protective boot, he is back in contention for a start.
“Everyone is happy, the teammates are happy, we are all happy. The most important thing is that Cole is happy,” Maresca said. He added that Palmer remains “probably our best player,” though cautioned that the 23-year-old still needs time to regain full match sharpness.
Palmer has made just four appearances across all competitions this season, and contributed two goals. His return gives Chelsea a major boost as they seek to close a six-point gap behind league leaders, Arsenal.
