Chelsea’s challenge for the Premier League title suffered a major blow on Wednesday after a heavy 3–1 away loss against Leeds United. The result lifted the hosts out of the relegation zone.
The scoring started early for Leeds when Jaka Bijol powered in a header from a corner in the sixth minute. Then Ao Tanaka struck a stunning goal just before halftime to double the advantage.
A few minutes after the break, Chelsea pulled one back through substitute Pedro Neto in the 50th minute. But the hosts restored their two-goal cushion in the 72nd minute when Dominic Calvert-Lewin capitalised on a defensive error to seal the win.
The defeat leaves Chelsea on 24 points, as they dropped to fourth position on the table. They now sit three points behind third-placed Aston Villa and nine adrift of league leaders Arsenal.
For Leeds, the victory is a significant boost. They climb to 17th with 14 points.
