Chelsea Held to 2–2 Draw by Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea dropped more points as they were held to a 2–2 draw by Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge, despite dominating possession for large spells of the match.

Match Highlight

The Blues recovered from an early setback to lead 2–1 inside the opening half-hour, but defensive lapses, particularly from long throws, proved costly as Bournemouth fought back.

Bournemouth struck first in the 6th minute when David Brooks bundled the ball home after a long throw caused chaos in Chelsea’s box. Chelsea responded quickly, with Cole Palmer converting a penalty in the 15th minute following a VAR review. Enzo Fernández then fired the hosts ahead eight minutes later with a composed finish.

Chelsea’s lead lasted only four minutes. Justin Kluivert equalised in the 27th minute, once again capitalising on a long throw that exposed Chelsea’s defensive weakness. All four goals came within a frantic opening 27 minutes.

Chelsea controlled possession after the break and pushed for a winner but were repeatedly denied by former Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic. Bournemouth remained dangerous on the counter and from set plays, keeping the home side on edge.

The result leaves Chelsea with just one win in their last seven league matches and denies them a chance to move into the top four. Defender Wesley Fofana admitted afterward that Chelsea failed to manage the game despite creating chances.
