The Boston Celtics secured a commanding 111-89 victory over the Lakers at the Staples Center on Sunday, powered by a standout performance from Jaylen Brown.
Brown finished with 32 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, while Payton Pritchard added 30 points and eight assists. Derrick White contributed 12 points and eight assists as Boston improved to 2-0 on their four-game Western Conference road trip.
Defensive Masterclass
Boston’s defense set the tone throughout, holding Los Angeles to 39.1% shooting and limiting them to their second-lowest scoring output of the season.
The Celtics shot an efficient 48.2% from the field, while Neemias Queta added 10 points and 12 rebounds to control the paint.
Lakers Struggle For Rhythm
Luka Doncic led Los Angeles with 25 points, while LeBron James contributed 20. Austin Reaves chipped in with 15 points as the Lakers dropped their third game in five outings.
Boston seized control in the second quarter, turning a first-period tie into a 60-50 halftime lead behind 13 points from Brown and 11 from Pritchard.
Clinical Finish Seals Season Sweep
The Celtics extended the advantage to 94-79 midway through the fourth quarter on a Brown step-back jumper before an 8-0 run effectively ended the contest.
Brown drilled a three-pointer to push the margin to 102-81 with just over four minutes remaining. Pritchard’s late three extended the lead to 105-83, prompting the Lakers to empty their bench.
The win completed a 2-0 season sweep for Boston, who also defeated Los Angeles 126-105 on December 5. The Celtics are now 6-2 against the Lakers since the 2022-23 campaign.
