Cardi B has launched a maternal wellness and feeding programme with the organic infant formula brand Bobbie. She was named the infant formula brand’s Chief Confidence Officer after a wellness campaign titled “The B is for Bobbie”.
Cardi B, who is pregnant with her fourth child, stated she used organic whole milk infant formula for her baby when she struggled with breastfeeding. “You’re not a bad mom for giving your baby formula,” she stated. “What’s bad is not feeding your kid.”
According to the initiative, the advocacy arm of the brand, Bobbie for Change, will be donating $75,000 to three maternal health organisations: Paid Leave for All, BirthFUND, and 4Kira4Moms. The funds go towards advancing maternal care access enhancements and advocacy for countrywide paid parental leave legislation.
The campaign also created a parent hotline, 732-QQ-CARDI, to collect feeding stories. Eight participating parents will have their names randomly selected to receive three months of paid parental leave.
The campaign is focused on addressing the maternal health emergency in the United States and eradicating the stigma surrounding formula feeding. The campaign highlights that America has the highest maternal mortality rate among developed nations. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that Black and Brown mothers are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women.
