Bodø/Glimt secured a stunning 3-1 victory over Serie A leaders Inter Milan in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 playoff on Wednesday. Kasper Hogh scored once and provided two assists, giving the Norwegian side a commanding advantage ahead of next week’s return leg.
Early Goal Sets The Tone
The hosts struck first in the 20th minute. Høgh’s clever backheel released Sondre Brunstad Fet, who calmly slotted into the bottom corner to give Bodo/Glimt the lead.
Inter Milan Respond
Inter responded 10 minutes later when Pio Esposito turned sharply inside the box and fired home following a precise through ball from Carlos Augusto.
At 20 years old, Esposito became the youngest Italian to score for Inter in a Champions League knockout round.
Visitors Press After Halftime
Inter dominated possession after the break. Lautaro Martinez struck the post, while Augusto tested goalkeeper Nikita Haikin from a distance. Despite the pressure, Bodø/Glimt remained disciplined at the back.
Hogh Seals Famous Win
A defensive lapse allowed Hogh to drive forward and set up Jens Petter Hauge, who rifled the ball into the roof of the net to restore the lead at 2-1. Three minutes later, Hogh added his name to the scoresheet, converting from close range after a pinpoint cross by Ole Didrik Blomberg to make it 3-1 and seal a memorable victory.
Bodø/Glimt continue their impressive European campaign, having previously defeated Manchester City 3-1 and Atletico Madrid 2-1 in earlier rounds.
