A man accused of stealing Beyoncé’s unreleased music and tour materials has pleaded not guilty. Kelvin Evans entered the plea during a virtual court appearance. The case stems from a reported vehicle break-in during the singer’s Cowboy Carter tour stop in the city last summer.
Charges and court proceedings
Evans faces a felony charge of entering a motor vehicle with intent to commit theft. He also faces a misdemeanour charge of criminal trespass. The court scheduled a case management hearing for 11 February 2026. Evans remains free on a $20,000 bond granted in October 2025.
Details of the alleged break-in
The alleged incident occurred on 8 July 2025 in the Krog Street Market area of Atlanta. Beyoncé’s choreographer, Christopher Grant, and dancer, Diandre Blue, had parked a rented Jeep Wagoneer shortly after 8 p.m. They returned approximately one hour later and discovered the rear window damaged. Two suitcases were missing from the vehicle.
In a police report filed after the incident, Grant informed officers that the missing items included sensitive materials belonging to the touring production. The report stated the suitcases contained “watermarked music, some unreleased music, floor plans for the show, and past and future set lists.” The report also listed two Apple laptops, headphones, and other personal belongings as missing.
Investigation and arrest timeline
Investigators issued an arrest warrant approximately one week after the break-in. Surveillance footage from the area was reviewed, and police tracked signals from some of the stolen devices to help trace their movement after the theft. Evans was arrested in late August 2025 on an unrelated parole violation. Authorities publicly identified him as the suspect in mid-September 2025.
