Bayern Munich produced a dominant attacking performance to thrash 10-man Hoffenheim 5–1 on Sunday, with Luis Diaz scoring a hat-trick and Harry Kane adding a brace.
The result underlined Bayern’s attacking firepower as they tightened their grip at the top of the Bundesliga table.
Early Red Card Shifts Momentum
Hoffenheim’s challenge became significantly tougher in the 17th minute when defender Kevin Akpoguma was sent off for hauling down Diaz inside the penalty area.
Kane calmly converted the resulting penalty to give Bayern the lead. Despite the setback, Hoffenheim briefly drew level when Andrej Kramaric capitalised on an error from goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to make it 1–1.
Kane Restores Control Before The Break
Bayern regained the lead on the stroke of halftime as Kane converted his second penalty of the match, taking his league tally to 24 goals for the season.
Moments later, Kane led a swift counter-attack and set up Diaz to extend Bayern’s advantage, sending the hosts into the break with a 3–1 lead.
Diaz Dominates Second Half
Diaz continued his outstanding display after the restart, scoring his second goal in the 62nd minute before completing his hat-trick with a composed finish late in the game.
Neuer also made amends for his earlier error, producing a sharp save to deny Fisnik Asllani.
Table Implications And Reaction
The emphatic win restores Bayern’s six-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga, moving them to 54 points from 21 matches. The German champions have now scored 79 league goals this season, highlighting their attacking dominance.
Head coach Vincent Kompany praised his forwards after the match, saying:
“They simply never stop. If things get a little less exciting, they’re right back at it. They’re always hungry to attack.”
