Barcelona’s injury list has swollen further after confirmation that midfielder Pedri has sustained a muscle tear in his left leg.
The 22-year-old has been diagnosed with a tear in the distal biceps femoris muscle in his left thigh, the club said in a statement. He is expected to be sidelined for at least four weeks.
Pedri’s absence will rule him out of three upcoming Barcelona matches. He is also set to miss Spain’s crucial World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Turkey in November.
Barcelona currently has 12 players on their injury list, including key figures such as Robert Lewandowski, Gavi, Raphinha, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and Dani Olmo.
“First team player Pedri has suffered a tear in the distal biceps femoris muscle in his left thigh. The player’s recovery will dictate his return to action,” the club said in their statement.
Barcelona are second in La Liga with 22 points, five points leaders Real Madrid.
