FC Barcelona fought back three times to secure a 3-3 draw against Club Brugge at Jan Breydel Stadium in Bruges on Wednesday.
Brugge struck early when Nicolo Tresoldi finished a quick counter in the 6th minute. Barcelona responded promptly through Ferran Torres two minutes later. Brugge regained the lead in the 17th minute with a strike by Carlos Forbs.
Barcelona equalised in the 58th minute when Lamine Yamal produced a brilliant solo goal. The 18-year-old deftly slotted the ball in with the outside of his left foot after collecting it on the edge of the box and weaving past the Bruges defenders. But Brugge countered again shortly afterwards as Forbs capitalised on another high-line defensive slip.
The decisive leveller arrived in the 77th minute when Brugge’s 20-year-old defender Joaquin Seys headed the ball into his own net under pressure from Yamal’s cross.
Brugge thought they had snatched it in stoppage time when Romeo Vermant beat goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, only for VAR to intervene. The goal was ruled out after Vermant was judged to have fouled the keeper during the build-up.
Barcelona now has seven points from four group games and sits 11th in the 36-team competition standings. Brugge are on four points and are 22nd on the table.
