Two-time defending champion Jannik Sinner and 10-time Australian Open winner Novak Djokovic have been drawn in the same half of the 2026 Australian Open, setting up a potential semi-final clash.
A Tough Road Ahead
Sinner acknowledged the challenge of the draw, saying:
“The draw is very difficult… the way is very, very long and very far.”
If both players advance through their opening five matches, they will meet in the semi-finals. Sinner currently leads their head-to-head rivalry 6–4.
History on the Line
Sinner is chasing his fifth Grand Slam title, while 38-year-old Djokovic is aiming for a record-breaking 25th major singles crown, which would move him ahead of Margaret Court.
Sinner opens against Hugo Gaston, while Djokovic faces Pedro Martinez in round one.
