Ashleigh Plumptre Begins Rehab After Foot Surgery

Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has begun her rehabilitation programme in the United Kingdom following successful surgery on her left foot. The 27 year old shared updates, reflecting on her time back home in Nigeria and the support she has received.

Successful Surgery and Club Support

Plumptre, who plays for Al Ittihad Ladies Club in Saudi Arabia, underwent surgery to address a persistent foot problem that had kept her sidelined for months. The club confirmed she “has successfully undergone surgery on her left foot” and will now follow a structured treatment plan under the supervision of their medical team.

Recovery Updates and Personal Reflections

The defender provided glimpses of her recovery on Instagram. Images showed her navigating crutches and a wheelchair, visiting London’s Tate Modern, and spending time with family.

“The most beautiful week back home for surgery. Grateful to be supported and surrounded by my @ittihadladiesclub family during this chapter and looking forward to the opportunity for more personal and collective growth the journey.”

Injury Setbacks and Missed Opportunities

Plumptre has suffered multiple injuries since moving to Saudi Arabia in 2023. A long injury layoff caused her to miss the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Focus on Return Ahead of WAFCON 2026

Al-Ittihad’s medical staff expect Plumptre to be out for several months. She remains focused on reaching peak fitness ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in July. Her absence represents a significant gap for both her club and the Super Falcons, given her experience and leadership in defence.
