Aryna Sabalenka has been named the WTA Player of the Year for the second year running. The world number one delivered the most consistent season on tour, collecting four titles and reaching nine finals.
Her standout moment came in September. She successfully defended her US Open crown against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles title. Sabalenka also lifted trophies in Brisbane, Miami, and Madrid. However, she missed out on further major success after finishing runner-up to Madison Keys at the Australian Open and Coco Gauff at the French Open.
Sabalenka’s grip on the top of the rankings never loosened. She spent the entire season as the world number one. In July, she crossed the 12,000-point mark in the WTA rankings, a feat not achieved since Serena Williams a decade earlier. Her campaign closed with a formidable 63–12 win-loss record and a tour-leading £11 million in prize money.
The 27-year-old received close to 80% of votes from international tennis media. She will cap her year with a high-profile exhibition against Nick Kyrgios on December 28.
