Arsenal delivered a commanding 4–0 victory over Atlético Madrid at the Emirates Stadium, in the Champions League.
The breakthrough came 57 minutes in when Gabriel headed in a free-kick from Declan Rice. Seven minutes later, Gabriel Martinelli side-footed home a sweeping move.
Viktor Gyökeres then ended his nine-game goal drought with a brace. His first via deflection and his second from close range to complete the rout.
“We stepped up in every phase of the play,” said Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, adding his satisfaction at the performance. Atlético coach Diego Simeone admitted his side paid the price for individual mistakes.
The result pushed Arsenal to nine points from three group matches, placing them comfortably with PSG and Inter Milan. Meanwhile, Atletico remain on three points in the group.
