Arsenal delivered an emphatic second-half display to beat Aston Villa 4–1 at the Emirates Stadium, extending their lead at the top of the Premier League table to five points.
Match Highlight
The hosts doubled their lead just four minutes later when Martin Zubimendi finished calmly after a defence-splitting pass. Arsenal continued to dominate possession and tempo, pinning Villa deep in their own half.
Leandro Trossard made it 3–0 in the 69th minute with a precise strike from outside the box. Substitute Gabriel Jesus capped the performance late on, adding a fourth shortly after coming off the bench.
Ollie Watkins pulled one back in stoppage time, but it proved little more than a consolation as Villa’s 11-match winning run came to an end.
The win leaves Arsenal five points clear at the summit, six ahead of Aston Villa, and firmly in control of the title race heading into the New Year, with Manchester City still holding a game in hand.
