Duplantis Breaks Pole Vault World Record Again

Armand Duplantis set a new pole vault world record on Thursday, clearing 6.31 metres at the Mondo Classic in Uppsala to surpass his own mark for the 15th time in his career.

Historic Jump in Uppsala

The Swedish star, a two-time Olympic champion, achieved the feat at the IFU Arena after comfortably clearing 5.65m, 5.90m and 6.08m on his first attempts.

The 26-year-old then asked for the bar to be raised to 6.31m and successfully soared over it, sparking celebrations from the home crowd.

Duplantis Reacts to Record-Breaking Moment

Duplantis told spectators after the jump:

“I am so proud to have been able to do this in front of you,”

“I jump for myself, I jump for my family, but I also jump for you, for Sweden, and for everyone who supports me.”

Breaking His Own Record Repeatedly

Duplantis has now improved the world record by one centimetre on each of the 15 occasions he has broken it.

The previous record before his dominance was 6.16m, set in 2014 by France’s Renaud Lavillenie.

Dominating the Sport Since 2020

Since first claiming the world record in 2020, Duplantis has dominated the sport, winning every major title including back-to-back Olympic gold medals at the Olympic Games.
