The Artist Managers Association in Nigeria, AMAN, recently marked a spectacular double achievement: their 30th Anniversary and the second edition of the AMAN Awards!
HipTV sat down with the President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mavin Grandpa Worldwide, NGW, to discuss the event’s evolution. NGW confirmed the awards saw a massive upgrade: “The second edition happened to be held this year, 2025… not the Fantasia Hall, but the Grand Ballroom with a more prestigious and elaborate seating arrangement.”
This year’s awards focused heavily on recognition and inducting people into the Hall of Fame. But the biggest impact of AMAN over three decades, NGW says, is restoring professional dignity to artist managers. He emphasized: “We have given some mark of respect to the profession, and people can now proudly come out and introduce themselves as artiste managers, and no one will refer to them as errand boys.”
Looking ahead, with the global rise of Nigerian talent, NGW stresses that emerging managers must operate from a knowledge-driven standpoint. Through continuous training and strong advocacy, AMAN is focused on ensuring its members are ready to match global standards, particularly in the age of artificial intelligence.
