Amaju Melvin Pinnick, former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), celebrated his 55th birthday on Monday at his Ikoyi, Lagos, residence.
Pinnick, the Special Adviser to the CAF President and Deputy Chairperson of the FIFA Men’s National Teams Competitions Committee, is one of Nigeria’s strongest voices in global football administration.
The celebrant was elected NFF President in 2014, a position he held for two terms while simultaneously breaking into continental and global football bodies, including CAF and the FIFA Council.
Friends described the celebrant as “a giver”, “a loyal friend”, and “a man whose generosity has lifted countless people”.
Many long-time associates spoke about friendships that span decades, recalling moments of support, mentorship, and his consistent willingness to invest in others. One guest remarked, “Amaju shows up for people; that is who he has always been.”
Adding to the warmth of the day, Pinnick’s wife and daughter offered heartfelt birthday wishes and celebrated him as a devoted family man whose strength, discipline, and kindness continue to inspire their home.
The celebrant took a moment to answer questions about his journey, influence, and future ambitions.
On how he has sustained such a high level of relevance across NFF, CAF, and FIFA, he responded:
“Being prayerful.”
He emphasised that faith has remained the centre of his decisions and resilience.
He also highlighted the importance of service, mentorship, and the responsibility that comes with representing Nigeria and Africa on the global football stage.
He rounded off by name-checking some of the individuals who have supported him throughout his journey. These include Rude Boy, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, Chris Baywood Ibe of Baywood Group, and Ayo Animashaun, CEO of HipTV’s parent company, among others.
