Afro-Fuji singer Destiny Boy, born Afeez Adeshina, has passed away at the age of 22. News of his death emerged on social media on 18 January 2026.
The singer is survived by his wife, Iremide, and their young son, who was born in November 2024.

Destiny Boy first gained attention in Lagos as a backup dancer, working with several artistes, including Fuji legend Pasuma, before fully transitioning into music.

Details surrounding Destiny Boy’s death remain unclear. An emotional video circulating online shows a close associate claiming the singer had an underlying health issue and suddenly fell ill before being rushed to the hospital, where he later passed away.
The associate described the loss as painful and attributed it to God’s will.

So far, reactions from fellow artistes have been limited. Ruger and Small Doctor are the only notable voices to publicly comment on the tragedy.
On his X (formerly Twitter) account, Ruger questioned the lack of clarity surrounding Destiny Boy’s death, writing:
“What caused his death? No autopsy, nothing. We’re just expected to accept that he’s gone.”

Singer Small Doctor also reacted on Instagram, posting a single word:
“Scared.”
