South Africa opened their AFCON Group B campaign with a 2–1 victory over Angola in Marrakech on Monday, ending a 21-year wait for an opening-match win.

Bafana Bafana took the lead in the 21st minute through Oswin Appollis, who finished a slick team move to put the hosts ahead. Angola equalised in the 35th minute when Show deflected a free-kick past the South African goalkeeper, levelling the scores before halftime.
After the break, South Africa pressed for a winner. Tshepang Moremi had a strike ruled out for offside, but Burnley forward Lyle Foster delivered in the 79th minute, curling a superb shot from outside the box to secure all three points.
The win gives South Africa a strong start in Group B alongside Egypt, Zimbabwe, and Angola, keeping Bafana Bafana in contention for the knockout stages.
