Nigeria wrapped up a flawless Group C campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations with a 3–1 victory over Uganda on Tuesday, sealing qualification for the knockout stage with a maximum nine points.
Match Highlight
The Super Eagles took control midway through the first half when Paul Onuachu opened the scoring in the 28th minute, tapping home after a well-weighted pass from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru. It marked Onuachu’s first Nigeria goal in four years.
Uganda’s task became harder in the 56th minute when substitute goalkeeper Salim Magoola was sent off for handling the ball outside his area, forcing the Cranes to rely on a third-choice keeper.
Nigeria made their numerical advantage count quickly. Raphael Onyedika struck twice in five minutes, scoring in the 62nd and 67th minutes, with both goals created by Samuel Chukwueze.
Uganda pulled one back late through Rogers Mato, but Nigeria remained composed to see out the win. The result confirms three wins from three matches for the Super Eagles, while Uganda exits the tournament. Tunisia finished second in the group, with Tanzania also advancing as one of the best third-placed teams.
