Burkina Faso secured qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations last 16 with a 2–0 victory over Sudan, finishing second in Group E behind Algeria.

The Stallions took early control and were rewarded in the 16th minute when Lassina Traoré headed home from close range after a precise delivery by Stephane Aziz Ki.
Sudan had a golden chance to get back into the contest when Al-Gozoli Nooh was brought down in the box. However, Nooh failed to convert from the penalty spot, sending his effort wide.
Burkina Faso wrapped up the win late on. In the 85th minute, Arsène Kouassi latched onto a through ball from Dango Ouattara and calmly finished to put the result beyond doubt.
The victory takes Burkina Faso to six points from three matches and into the knockout stages for the sixth time in their history. Despite the defeat, Sudan also progressed as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams.
