Adekunle Gold delivered one of the most powerful cultural moments of the year with the official release of the music video for “Many People,” on the 11th of November.
Directed by the talented Perliks Definition – Abdulrasaq Adebayo Babalola, the visuals are a beautiful full-circle moment that honors the song’s rich lineage while pushing Afrobeats and Fuji fusion into bold new territory.
The video doesn’t just sample Yinka Ayefele’s iconic gospel-fuji hook, the living legend himself appears in the video, alongside Fuji music titan Adewale Ayuba who delivers a brand-new verse that has left fans screaming in the comments.
Adding extra spice to the already star-studded affair are Big Brother Naija stars Imisioluwa (Season 9 winner) and fan-favorite Mensah, whose resemblance to Adekunle Gold continues to fuel viral conversations across social media.
In a heartfelt post on X, Adekunle Gold shared the deeply personal significance of the collaboration:
“I grew up on @officialayuba ‘Fuji Music’ album, the same album that gave us “Many People”. His music shaped my childhood and my love for Fuji.
Years later, @yinkaayefele reimagined it and made it fresh for a new generation.
Now I’m honored to carry it even further. To have both of them on my song. Thank you sir for blessing me and allowing this song to live forever.”
The internet has since exploded with praise:
@omojuwa wrote on X:
“Adekunle Gold’s FUJI album bent sound into a new form. I love that the Many People video is a complete detour from the norm too. This is art as it was intended.”
@Kingwole on X declared:
“Adding Adewale Ayuba to “Many People” is another Adekunle Gold masterstroke when it comes to this album. This is FUJI.”
Director Perliks also took to X to share his emotional connection to the project:
“From the little boy who watched his dad shoot lots of Fuji music videos growing to actually shooting FUJI.”
With the release, Adekunle Gold has successfully united generations from Fuji purists and gospel lovers to Afrobeats faithful and the Big Brother Naija community in one glorious celebration of Nigerian musical heritage.
