Rodri has refused to rule out a future move from Manchester City to Real Madrid.
The Spain international, who previously played for Atletico Madrid, made the comments during an interview with Onda Cero on Wednesday evening.
Rodri on Premier League Demands
Rodri acknowledged the intense physical and mental demands of the Premier League, where he has established himself as one of the world’s top defensive midfielders since joining Manchester City in 2019.
“I have to admit that the Premier League is my weakness; it is very demanding, meaning it pushes you to the limit,” he said.
Open to Real Madrid Opportunity
When asked whether he would reject a move to Real Madrid due to his past with Atletico, Rodri dismissed the idea.
“No, there have been many players who have gone down that path, right? especially not directly, but over time,” he said.
“For me, you can’t turn down the best clubs in the world. They have a fanbase that really goes all out for them, and Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is always incredible, a very imposing stadium.”
Transfer Speculation Grows
Rodri’s comments come amid ongoing speculation about his long-term future at Manchester City.
He has been instrumental in the club’s recent success, contributing to multiple Premier League titles and their 2023 UEFA Champions League triumph.
Key Figure in Guardiola’s Squad
Despite the speculation, Rodri remains a vital part of Pep Guardiola’s squad as Manchester City continue competing across multiple competitions this season.
While no immediate transfer is expected, his refusal to close the door on a move to Real Madrid keeps the possibility open for the future.
