FIFA Fines Israel FA Over Racism Violations

FIFA has fined the Israeli Football Association 150,000 Swiss francs for multiple anti-discrimination violations.

Disciplinary Findings

FIFA’s disciplinary committee found that the IFA failed to act against Beitar Jerusalem, whose fans have repeatedly engaged in racist behaviour.

Sanctions and Measures

The IFA received a formal warning and has been ordered to display a “Football Unites the World – No to Discrimination” banner at Beitar Jerusalem’s next three FIFA competition home matches to raise awareness against racism.

In addition, one-third of the fine must be allocated to funding programmes aimed at preventing discrimination and addressing future incidents.

FIFA’s Anti-Discrimination Stance

The ruling reinforces FIFA’s position on enforcing anti-discrimination policies, making it clear that while the fine is imposed on the IFA, part of the penalty must directly support corrective and preventive initiatives.

Background to the Investigation

The investigation followed a complaint by the Palestine Football Association in October 2024, which prompted FIFA to launch its probe into the incidents.
