Tottenham End Losing Streak With Liverpool Draw

Tottenham Hold Liverpool 1-1 With Late Equaliser

Tottenham Hotspur ended their losing run with a dramatic 1-1 draw against Liverpool FC at Anfield on Sunday.

Richarlison struck a 90th-minute equaliser to rescue a point for Tottenham.

Liverpool Take First-Half Lead

Liverpool had gone ahead in the 18th minute when Dominik Szoboszlai curled a free kick past Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Vicario later produced an important save by pushing Cody Gakpo’s low effort onto the post before halftime as Liverpool looked to extend their lead.

Tottenham Improve After the Break

Tottenham, despite missing defenders Micky van de Ven through suspension and captain Cristian Romero due to concussion, improved after the break.

Richarlison remained their biggest attacking threat, heading one chance wide before Liverpool wasted opportunities of their own, including a shot dragged wide by Mohamed Salah.

Dramatic Stoppage-Time Equaliser

The equaliser arrived in stoppage time when Randal Kolo Muani dribbled across the area and slipped a pass to Richarlison, who fired low past Alisson Becker.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot acknowledged the frustration of conceding late.

“Being up for so many minutes, yeah of course, two points dropped,” he said.
“As this season is going, it is not a complete surprise we are conceding in the last moments.”

Tottenham Fight Against Relegation

Tottenham remain in relegation trouble, sitting 16th with 30 points, just one point above the drop zone.

Interim coach Igor Tudor said his side’s resilience offered encouragement.

“It was good. Proud of the guys. They stayed in the game, and we deserve a point,” he told reporters.

“The team spirit was amazing… every point is crucial.”

Liverpool’s Frustration Continues

Liverpool move to fifth with 49 points from 30 matches.

“I think it is completely normal,” Slot said of the boos that greeted the full-time whistle.

“If the team you are supporting drops so many points against teams you don’t expect them to so many times in the last seconds of a game then I think we all feel a lot of frustration.”

Szoboszlai also expressed disappointment, saying:

“It’s a huge disappointment… again in the last minute. We have to wake up.”

Meanwhile, Tottenham are without a league win in 12 matches, their worst run since 1935, as they fight to avoid a first relegation since 1977.
