Aaron Pierre has officially joined the cast of Superman: Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to the 2025 film Superman.
The movie, scheduled for release on July 9, 2027, will feature Pierre as John Stewart, also known as the Green Lantern, following his debut in HBO’s Lanterns.
Returning Cast and New Villain
David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult will return as Superman and Lex Luthor respectively. Meanwhile, German actor Lars Eidinger has been cast as the technological villain Brainiac.
Production for the film is set to begin this summer in Atlanta.
DC Studios Confirms Casting
A spokesperson from DC Studios confirmed Pierre’s role in the upcoming sequel.
“Pierre will appear as John Stewart in the sequel. This role follows his debut in Lanterns and connects to the broader DC Universe.”
Connection to the Lanterns Series
Pierre’s casting follows his role in the HBO series “Lanterns”, where he stars alongside Emmy winner Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan.
The series follows Stewart and Jordan as they investigate a murder in the American heartland, highlighting the dynamic partnership between the two Green Lanterns.
Pierre’s Previous Roles
Pierre previously portrayed Malcolm X in the Nat Geo series Genius: MLK/X.
His other notable work includes starring in The Underground Railroad directed by Barry Jenkins and voicing Mufasa in Jenkins’ Mufasa: The Lion King.
He also recently voiced a key character in GOAT from Sony Pictures Animation.
Expanding the DC Cinematic Universe
Pierre is represented by WME, Anonymous Content, B-Side Management and Narrative.
His appearance in “Superman: Man of Tomorrow” positions him as a key character bridging television and film in DC Studios’ expanding cinematic universe.
