Pharrell Williams will receive the Global Songwriter Award at the MOBO Awards 2026 ceremony scheduled for March 26 in Manchester.
Ceremony To Take Place at Co-op Live
The 2026 MOBO Awards will take place at Co-op Live, one of the United Kingdom’s premier music venues known for hosting large-scale live events and international performances.
At the event, hip-hop legend Slick Rick will also be honoured with the MOBO Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his decades-long influence on the genre and his pioneering contributions to storytelling in rap music.
Celebrating Music Rooted in Black Culture
The MOBO Awards was established in 1996 to celebrate music genres rooted in Black culture, including hip-hop, R&B, grime, reggae and Afrobeats.
Recognition of Influential Music Figures
MOBO founder and chief executive Kanya King described the recognition as part of the organisation’s mission to honour influential figures in Black music.
She said:
“MOBO has always been about recognising the cultural architects as well as the rising stars shaping the future. Pharrell Williams’ songwriting genius has influenced the sound of global music for decades, while Slick Rick’s storytelling laid the foundations for generations of hip hop artistes.”

The awards ceremony will feature live performances from several artistes, including:
