Kanye West will perform at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 3, marking his first major U.S. concert since 2024. The performance follows widespread criticism over antisemitic remarks he made online last year.
The stadium, home to the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, announced the show on Monday morning under the title “YE: Homecoming.”
First Major U.S. Show Since 2024
West’s last major live U.S. appearance was a listening session at Rolling Loud California on March 14, 2024, alongside Ty Dolla $ign.
He later performed two shows in Mexico City in January, marking his first international live return since 2024.
The Los Angeles concert will also be his first full U.S. stage performance since the Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert in 2021.
International Backlash Over Planned Shows
The upcoming concert follows international opposition to some of West’s planned performances.
Plans for a show at Orange Vélodrome in Marseille on June 11 were rejected by local authorities, who cited his history of antisemitic remarks. Jewish institutions in France also criticised the proposed concert.
Public Apology and Explanation
Earlier in January, West issued a full-page apology in The Wall Street Journal.
He stated:
“I regret and am deeply mortified by my actions in that state, and am committed to accountability, treatment, and meaningful change.”
West connected the remarks to mental health issues following a 2002 car accident that fractured his jaw and injured his frontal lobe. The statement also noted that bipolar disorder can create “a defence system of denial” during manic episodes.
A Lasting Influence in Hip-Hop
Despite the controversies, West remains a prominent figure in hip-hop and contemporary music. Rising to prominence in the early 2000s, he has played a major role in shaping the sound of rap, R&B, and pop.
His twelfth studio album, Bully, is scheduled for release on March 20.
